Hello everyone, and welcome to the Mama Debz Blog! We are so happy to have you here and grateful you have chosen us for your journey towards better health!

Our blog today is about dealing with anxiety.

Anxiety is a common reaction to stress in times of uncertainty or perceived danger. While it’s natural to feel anxious in certain situations, prolonged, severe anxiety can significantly impact our daily lives. Symptoms of anxiety can range from mild uneasiness to extreme panic and can include:

  • Feelings of restlessness or dread
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Dizziness
  • Profuse sweating
  • Difficulty sleeping and or concentrating
  • An inability to control irrational thoughts

Here are Ways to Reduce Anxiety

Regular exercise is a great way to relieve stress and anxiety. Exercise releases endorphins, which can help improve mood and reduce nervousness.

Meditation is another powerful tool for managing stress. Even five minutes a day of mindfulness meditation can help clear the mind and boost concentration. Listening to relaxing music and or meditations are a great way to help control your anxiety.

Journaling can also be a great way to explore and process your thoughts and feelings, which clarifies how fears impact your daily life.

Socializing can help reduce and manage anxieties. Engaging in meaningful conversations with close friends and family can connect us to our support networks and help fill any gaps in our awareness or understanding of our fears.

Eating healthy and getting enough sleep is crucial for managing anxieties. Healthy foods provide us with the vitamins and minerals we need for optimum mental health, and good quality sleep helps us better deal with our stressors.

Use positive thinking to strengthen your mind. Instead of thinking “I can't control this anxiety”, start thinking “I CAN control this anxiety”. Everything is possible. The first step is believing in yourself, trust and imagine that with mindful breathing you can control it. Again, just breathe and relax…breathe and relax…breathe and relax!

Here are positive affirmations to help you calm down:

  • I am safe and in control.
  • I can move past this moment.
  • I have survived my anxiety before. I will survive it now.
  • I inhale peace and exhale worry.
  • For those of you that are spiritual here are examples of biblical affirmations:
  • I cast all my anxieties and worries to the Lord who loves and cares for me.
  • When I feel anxious, I take refuge in the Lord where I feel safe and protected.
  • When I feel overwhelmed, I ask God to help me find peace and safety.
  • I surrender my anxiety to God, knowing His peace will guard my heart and mind.

Anxiety is a normal part of life; however, it can sometimes be overwhelming. Fortunately, many of these strategies can help lessen the effects of anxiety, such as regular exercise, meditation, journaling, socializing, eating healthy foods, and making sleep a priority. It’s important to note that while dealing with anxiety isn’t easy, solutions are available, and you should never be afraid to seek help when it’s needed.
