Our blog today is What is Meditation and its Benefits
There is nothing more stressful than having a billion things to do during the day without having even just a second to yourself. As a result, we feel stressed but do not have enough time to relieve or manage that stress in a healthy way. No matter how many demands you have placed upon you during the day, meditation is an option that you can easily make the time for.
Meditation is now appealing to mainstream business professionals, medical doctors and even health care companies. There is growing evidence which supports that meditation can promote physical healing and general wellness. Meditation is about staying still for a few moments and relaxing your body and mind. Your mind, and body are not separate entities. When we clear our minds, we improve our life and health.
The first thing to remember is that meditation is all about comfort. You can meditate anywhere as long as you are in a comfortable enough place to allow your mind to so some recharging. Some people meditate on pillows on the floor, at their desk, in a bathtub or even in bed. Whether you meditate in the morning or evening, make sure you are consistent. That way, you will always have it on your schedule and you will carve out a specific time dedicated to your health.
If you are new to meditation and want to give it a try, and do something simple at first. No one was ever harmed by just simply concentrating on their breathing, and this is the core of any good meditation. Start your mindful meditation for five minutes a day leading up to 20 or more minutes daily…sit in a comfortable position and concentrating on your breathing. Breathing in slowly and exhaling slowly. Be aware of how your body is beginning to feel when you become mindful of your breath. Add some relaxing music to your breathing and guess what…you are meditating.
Why is meditation important. Here are just a few of its benefits.
- People who meditate are less prone to low self-image. They tend to gain more insight into themselves and make choices that truly benefit them and their goals.
- Meditation can not only help to reduce stress and anxiety symptoms, but there is also a correlation between meditation and lower blood pressure.
- Other scientifically proven benefits include sounder sleep and even a better memory.
- If you are suffering from chronic pain symptoms, or any aches and pains in general, meditation has been shown to help manage these and improve your quality of life.
- Helps you relax the body, mind and rejuvenate one’s flow of energy in order to more effectively face the responsibilities of one’s demanding and active life.
- Helps you develop a more relaxed and positive view towards life.
- Helps with focus and concentration and to tune into creative inspirations for artistic expressions.
- Can help with freeing oneself from addictions such as cigarettes, alcohol, narcotics and tranquilizers.
- For spiritual growth, self-knowledge or enlightenment.
- To help create a relationship with God or whomever you pray to.
Isn’t it time that you make yourself a priority. Try meditation…believe me you will happy you did.
